  My 6 year old was supposed to have a procedure done this morning. I was called before I left to let me know the office had made a mistake on my estimate for the procedure and that it would cost me more money. I don't begrudge the mistake, because we are all human. I have several issues with this. The first is, I was in 2 days prior and confirmed the amount given a week before with the employee. Second, based on the time she called she learned this information yesterday and waited until the day of the procedure to call. Finally, the worst part is the fact the front desk employee is not properly trained in reading or understanding benefits. In questioning the new amount, she was unable to give me confidence in her ability and understanding. She kept changing the amount she thought my deductible was and the percent of co-insurance. She also tried to tell me I have a co-payment (which I don't). I then told her I would feel more comfortable waiting for the claim to process and using my HSA. She told me that was not possible and I would be expected to pay upon arrival. Her lack of customer service was a result of her frustration with my push back. I do not blame her. I blame an owner that she was more afraid of for getting fussed at for not collecting money up front. I think this office has a lot of opportunities to grow, and that we were just a bump in that growth. However, I cannot recommend them at this time.

  Close your eyes for a minute and imagine how you'd like to see your child treated at any kind of medical appointment. Would you like doctors who look your child in the eye and communicate on an age-appropriate level? Who take as much time with the care as your child needs to feel comfortable and trusting? Who clearly love children, are called to work with them (even toddlers), and aren't too proud to be silly? It sounds like a pipe dream, but you can get all that plus a gorgeous state-of-the-art office, an incredible support staff, fun prizes for the kiddos, and comprehensive, transparent care if you make an appointment with CPD. We've used other pediatric dentists in the Triangle who are in-network for us and pay more of our expense, but those dentists don't offer a fraction of the time or compassionate care that Drs. Boudreau and Ricker do, and I would gladly pay full price (though I don't have to because their staff is super knowledgeable) to have my son laughing instead of sobbing in terror.
